I promised wonderful blogs while I was cruising on the new Disney Dream, and unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, I was unable to even upload pictures. However, there will be alot of information and pictures coming!
We arrived at Port Canaveral and proceeded through the check in process. It was so neat that while we were waiting in the terminal, Mickey and Minnie were there greeting everyone and allowing for pictures. Goofy and Pluto also made an appearance.
The Disney welcome as we boarded the ship was great! "Welcome aboard Classic Travel Connection!" Then we were greeted by more crew members who directed us to our staterooms to get settled in.
The staterooms were verandah rooms with a queen size bed, a sleeper sofa and a pull down berth (like a hideaway bunk bed). They had split bathrooms which made getting ready alot easier...especially with 4 women in the room! We also had a chance to view some of the suites that are available as well. They were amazing!
Some of the suites had a large balcony with a private jacuzzi. They also had a living room and a dining room as well as a kitchen!
Okay...I know what you are thinking...so what about those of us who can't afford a suite? Well, even the inside staterooms have a virtual porthole that makes you feel as if you are seeing what is outside! And the oceanview rooms have windows that are plenty big enough to enjoy the scenery. So, there is a stateroom that will work with most people's budget.
After we settled in, we headed up to the pool deck to join Mickey, Minnie and their friends at the Sail Away Party. Complete with champagne (even sparkling apple juice without alchol for those of us who don't drink) in souvenir Disney Dream glasses. It was so much fun to watch all the little ones (and even some of us bigger kids) in awe and excitement as the characters came out.
Dinner followed a little later at one of the Dream's restaurants, Animators Palate. The tables in this restaurant are set up with an artistic theme...a painters ceramic centerpiece and napkins on the plate that look like a paintbrush.
The entertainment that went on during dinner was really cute. All along the walls were interactive screens that looked like an ocean. It was based on the movie "Finding Nemo," and the lead character was the sea turtle, Crush. He swam from screen to screen and interacted with the guests, asking them their name and where they were from. It was so neat...just like a movie, except he was talking to and interacting with everyone!
There is alot more to share about the ship and the ports of call. Day 2 brought us to Nassau in the Bahamas. But more about that tomorrow!
